This project, entitled the ‘Weather Station Project’ was commissioned for an international exhibit focusing on Design and Energy. Enlarging the scope of the brief, our project investigates the implications and connections of Architecture, Weather, Energy and Form , specifically, focusing on systems, function and space.

Our belief in a responsible architecture led us to investigate a project able to stimulate a diversified and reactive response to energy consumption, but beyond that, in the possibility of an architecture to generate energy in the same way that energy is generated by the weather and climatic patterns.

This led to the research of energy production, the use of energy in the built environment, and the very ‘raison d’etre’ of building itself, with a central theme – Weather. 

Our proposal focused on producing a series of micro-architectural environments which are self sufficient and which create micro-climates and micro-weather conditions – these can be seen as ‘mini-machines for living’, and each different element literally functions as a different weather phenomenon. 

Thus we created ‘clouds’, ‘tornadoes’, ‘wind’, ‘rain’ etc.In this way, the architectures are simple but complex, primary and awkward, functional and emotional – the weather station project is highly modern and primitive in nature at the same time.
