TOKYO TV BROADCAST CENTER / WINTER OLYMPICS

Torino, Italy

Tim Power Architects designed, produced and constructed the Tokyo TV Broadcast Center, conceived for the Japanese broadcaster in Lingotto, Torino to serve as their the Logistic and Broadcast Center for their 2006 Winter Olympics efforts.

The forms of the Broadcast Center were conceived utilising algorithms which were derived from the underlying natural forces following the Geologic Time Scale (GTS)  which are forces responsible for the long-term life cycle in the creation and erosion of alpine peaks, lakes and other natural landforms.

The forms of the Broadcast center are based on fault-block and folded mountains from of the French Alps, located North and West of Torino, which were formed when stresses on the Earth’s crust cause it to crack and uplift or buckle and fold.

The TV Tokyo Broadcast Center for the Torino Olympics gained the highest public viewing ratings in televised Sport History in Japan.
