POTOCCO / MILANO SALONE DI MOBILE
Milan, Italy
The stand for the 2019 Milano Salone di Mobile, designed for award winning furniture company Potocco, represented an opportunity to experiment with shaping simple spaces which revolve around an open communal stair-court space which reaches upwards to collect filtered light from above.
This strategy emphasised the continuity between indoor and outdoor space with the centralised courtyard providing the indoor spaces multiple connections to exterior spaces, underlining the companies dualistic approach.
The walls are finished in rough concrete, providing the environment a sober and textural appearance. The outdoor courtyards are finished in Ceppo di Grè. The material selection refers to the Arte Povera movement where driftwood, metal, earth and concrete were used. The spontaneous planting in the garden reflect an approach of landscaping reminiscent of countrysides throughout Middle Europe.
