135 HOUSE / MILAN

Milan, Italy

The 135 house, designed for first time home owners in Milan, represented an opportunity to experiment with shaping simple space within a limited budget. The spatial organization  framed  the young couples outlook, focusing on their interest of contemporary Architecture and Art.  For this reason, the couples domestic life revolves around a large open communal space which reaches upwards to collect filtered light from above. The smaller auxiliary areas which are attached to the core, ( bedroom, studio, bathroom etc, ) are introverted and reflective.

The projects name, the 135 House, is derived from the discovery of a context specific datum point/line of 135 cm above finished floor, which provides an anchor for the primary architectural elements of the house.
