SAN JOSE STATE UNIVERSITY MUSEUM OF ART AND DESIGN
San Jose, USA
This competition entry by Studio Power for the San Jose State University Museum of Art and Design focuses on resolving the perimeter of the ‘unfinished’ educational building of the department of art and design as well as establishing a world class museum for contemporary art and design. The proposed educational building resonates permanence though its use of solid, unadorned, natural materials, whereas its irregular forms respond to the uncertainties and questions posed in the contemporary art and design worlds. Natural light filters into the educational facilities as well as the museum from overscaled openings found throughout the ceilings, walls and floors of the structure.
