ORIX REAL ESTATE _ LUXURY CONDOMINIUM  _ TOKYO

LUXURY CONDOMINIUM / TOKYO

In 2007, Tim Power Architects was requested to design an urban building complex with living units and public spaces to provide for short, medium and long term living situations for the Orix Real Estate Corporation in Tokyo, Japan.

The building was conceived as a ‘living machine’, with numerous strategies employed to reduce energy usage, and in fact, even produce more energy than consumption. Systems include rain and freshwater collectors, vertical air exchange (for purification of air and for active hot/cold air exchange integrated with the air-conditioning system and various greenhouse located throughout the project). Roof gardens are conceived to stabilize temperature control, and are integrated into active bokashi ‘structural ducts’ running vertically throughout various buildings.
